Even the best paw boot can accumulate moisture inside if worn for extended periods. Remove the boot at least twice daily to allow the paw to breathe and inspect the dressing for soiling or compression. For post-surgical patients, keep boot wear periods to 2-hour maximum intervals followed by 30-minute uncovered periods. Placing a clean sock or light gauze layer inside the boot before use absorbs sweat and prevents the boot's interior from becoming a source of contamination.
