MedsCheck Medication Review
MedsCheck: Your Free Medication Review Program
What Is MedsCheck?
MedsCheck is a provincial program funded by the Ontario government that allows eligible patients to have a free, private, one-on-one medication review with one of our licensed pharmacists. The program helps patients understand their medications better and identify any potential issues such as drug interactions, side effects, or redundant therapies.
The review typically takes 20 to 30 minutes and can be conducted in-person or over the phone.
Who Qualifies for MedsCheck?
You may be eligible for MedsCheck if you are an Ontario resident with a valid OHIP card and are currently taking 3 or more chronic prescription medications. The program is funded once per year.
What Happens During a MedsCheck?
During your MedsCheck appointment, your pharmacist will review all of your prescription and non-prescription medications, vitamins, and supplements. We will discuss what each medication is for, how and when to take it, and potential side effects to watch for. We will also look for any interactions between your medications and identify any medications that may no longer be necessary.
At the end of your review, you will receive a personalized medication record and a summary of any recommendations.
