Pet pharmacy in Ottawa and Orléans

Orleans Compounding Community Pharmacy fills veterinary prescriptions, compounds flavoured pet medications, and stocks a full range of dog and cat supplements — from a real pharmacy counter on St. Joseph Blvd, staffed by licensed pharmacists. Most prescriptions are ready for same-day pickup, and we ship supplements across Canada.

Have a vet prescription to fill? Call 613-824-3111 or have your veterinarian fax it to 613-824-2511. We will call you when it is ready.

What we do for pet owners

Fill vet prescriptions

Bring in the written prescription, or ask your veterinarian to send it to us directly. We fill for dogs, cats and small exotics.

Flavoured compounding

When a pet will not take a commercial tablet, we compound it into a flavoured liquid, chew or capsule — chicken and beef for dogs, tuna and chicken for cats.

Same-day pickup

Stock items called in before mid-afternoon are usually ready the same day. Compounded preparations are typically 24 to 72 hours depending on the formula.

Pet supplements

Joint, liver, kidney, digestive, skin and calming products — including Denamarin, Dasuquin, Proviable and Composure. Browse pet supplements.

Transferring a pet prescription to us

You are not required to buy your pet's medication from the clinic that prescribed it. In Ontario you can ask your veterinarian for a written prescription and have it filled at the pharmacy of your choice.

  • Ask your vet for a written prescription. Most clinics will provide one on request, or will fax it directly to us.
  • Send it to us. Drop it off, upload it, or have the clinic fax 613-824-2511.
  • We verify and fill it. A pharmacist checks the dose against your pet's weight and species and flags any interaction with what your pet is already taking.
  • Pick up or have it shipped. Same-day pickup in Orléans for most stock items.

Refills for an ongoing medication can be requested by phone. For a first fill we need the original prescription or direct transmission from the veterinarian.

Areas we serve

We are on St. Joseph Blvd in Orléans, minutes from Highway 174. Pet owners come to us from Orléans, Blackburn Hamlet, Navan, Cumberland, Rockland, Gloucester, Vanier, Beacon Hill and central Ottawa. Anywhere else in Canada, we ship — supplements and non-refrigerated stock items go out by courier or Canada Post.

Why a pharmacy instead of a pet e-commerce site

  • A licensed pharmacist checks the file. Dose per kilogram, species suitability and interactions with existing medications are reviewed before anything leaves the counter.
  • We can actually compound. A strength or flavour that does not exist commercially can be made here.
  • Cold chain is handled like medication. Refrigerated items such as insulin and probiotics are stored and packed properly.
  • You can ask a question and get an answer today. Call the counter and speak to a pharmacist, not a chat queue.

Common questions

Can a pharmacy in Ontario fill my pet's prescription?

Yes. An accredited Ontario pharmacy can dispense a veterinary drug when it has a valid prescription from a licensed veterinarian. You have the right to request a written prescription from your veterinarian and take it to the pharmacy of your choice.

Do you carry Denamarin?

Yes — Denamarin for dogs in 90 mg, 225 mg and 425 mg, plus Denamarin Advanced. See dog liver health and cat liver health.

How fast is a compounded pet medication?

Most flavoured liquids and capsules are ready in 24 to 72 hours. Call us with the formula and we will give you a firm time.

Do you ship outside Ottawa?

Yes, we ship supplements and eligible stock items across Canada. Prescription items have additional requirements — call us first.

Can you tell me whether a supplement is safe with my pet's medication?

That is exactly what to call us about. Have the medication name, strength and your pet's current weight ready.
